Terry Fox Run

Reminder: 

The Terry Fox Run will take place this Friday from 10:30-11:00 am. Please make sure you are wearing appropriate clothing and footwear to run for 30 minutes. We will be running in our cohort, with the Grade 5/6 class. 

If you would like to contribute to the Terry Fox fundraiser, you can bring in a donation from home ("Toonies for Terry"). 


In Gym over the past two weeks, we have been preparing by learning about pace. We've discussed and set goals for the run. We have increased the amount we are running every two days (2 laps, 3 laps, 4 laps, 5 laps, 6 laps) to build endurance! 

We are noticing and complimenting classmates who are encouraging others and running with a positive attitude. This year's run has a slogan "Trying Like Terry".

Ralph Klein Park Field Trip Recount

  We had a fabulous day yesterday at Ralph Klein Park. The weather was outstanding and the surroundings were beautiful. We had top-notch programming led by Chelsea from the City of Calgary. Here are some highlights of our learning and photos of the day. In the morning, Chelsea asked us to tell her what a wetland is, what the parts of a wetland are (there are submerged plants, emerged plants and floating plants), and which different wetlands are found in Alberta (marsh, swamp, fen, bog). Some of this was review of what we learned in the fall and some was new information. Then, we played a game where we had wetland creatures taped to our backs and we had to ask Yes-No questions to figure out who we were.  That led us to talking about specific wetland invertebrates and their interesting adaptations. Puberty Homework

The Grade 4 students are completing an assignment called " The Me to Be ". The instructions and hand out are posted in the Google Classroom for reference.  Grade 4s, this is a reminder that you may want to ask your parents for help remembering back to what you were like in Grade 1. You may also want to gather materials to bring in for your collage.  We will be working on them Monday . Please come prepared to work on your collage then. I'll have glue, scissors, and paper ready. :)     Grade 5 students have a crossword puzzle for homework that must be completed WITH a trusted adult. This is to help build their support network for who they can ask Puberty-related questions to. This homework is due Friday, June 17 .
