Fused Glass Residency

Art: I can explore different media.
Science: I can explain signs of different seasons; I can identify characteristics of different trees.

Yesterday, we participated in an art residency with Clay for Kids. We learned about glass art and how the kiln is heated differently from making clay. We were able to layer different colours of glass on top of each other and they will melt together when heated.

Ms Rachel and Ms Kelly guided us to make a piece of art with birch trees. We got to choose the season our artwork took place in. We could add details like leaves, snow, a sun, and sky, along with our birch trees. We learned what frit was and how it was the final step. Here are some pictures of our work in progress. We'll get the finished pieces back in January.
